Emergency and General Notifications

District 28 uses a  rapid notification system called School Messenger to reach parents and staff via phone, email and text messages for emergency messages.

This system is also used to deliver general announcements and information via email. All messages are delivered to families and staff within the District's database. 

Any corrections in contact information should be handled through the school office. 

Parents and staff can opt to receive text messages on mobile phones that are registered in the school contact information database. Individuals must use the text messaging app on the phone to opt-in to receive texts. You can also opt-out following the same instructions. 

Emergency test messages are sent in the fall to all contacts listed in the student's database after prior notification. If parent contact information changes through the school year, please contact the school office.

In the event of a major snowstorm or region-wide emergency, text messages will be received much faster than the automatic voice calling system.

You may enroll at any time as long as the District has the phone number in its database. Using your cell phone text message app, type ‘yes’ and send it to the short code “67587.” To opt out, text “stop” to the same short code. You can download detailed instructions. Text messaging rates apply.
