Helping Students Reach Their Potential

The Student Services Department in District 28 strives to implement a strong network of services in order to allow each student to reach his or her greatest potential. District 28 is committed to educational excellence and continuous achievement for all learners. We recognize the importance of providing a quality educational experience to all children, including those with high ability, special needs, or learning English as a new language.

Please feel free to contact any of us for any questions, concerns, or comments that you may have about your child or the programs that we have to offer. If your child is struggling, first talk to your child's teacher. You may also reach out to the school principal or contact one of us.

17-18 Important Dates

Early Childhood Screening -  Children will participate in a play-based screening in the areas of cognition, language, fine and gross motor skills, social-emotional functioning, and adaptive skills.  Screenings are by appointment only.  Screenings are generally held on the third Friday of the month. To schedule a screening, please contact Helene Josephson, Administrative Assistant for Early Childhood at 847-504-3809.  
The 17-18 dates are: Sept. 22, Oct. 24, Nov. 17, Dec. 15, Jan. 31, Feb. 20, Mar. 23, Apr. 16, May 18 and Jun. 1.

Coffee Talk Fridays
The Parent Advisory Council for Student Services will hold three "Pop Up Events" at 9 a.m. at Jar Bar Northbrook: Nov. 10, Dec. 1 and Dec. 15.

Parent Nights Out
The Parent Advisory Council for Student Services will hold two "Pop Up Events" Parent Nights Out, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at El Tradicional, 648 Lake Cook Road, and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Marcellos, 1911 Cherry Lane. Contact Karyn Tefka for more information.

Sped. Ed. Parent Night for 5th Graders
6:30 p.m. Jan. 22, 2018 at the District Office

Executive Functioning Workshop
7-8:30 p.m. March 15 at the District Office.
District 28 psychologists will explain this thinking process involved in planning, organizing, decision-making and regulating behavior. Parents will increase awareness and take home everyday practices.
