Parents Can Opt-in For Text Message

Text Messages Often Delivered First in Emergency
Posted on 11/28/2018
Opt-in to text messagesDistrict 28 uses a rapid notification system to reach parents and staff via phone, email and text messages for emergencies.

This system is also used to deliver general announcements and information via email. All messages are delivered to families and staff members within the District's database.

If a family's or staff member's contact information changes throughout the year, please contact your school's administrative assistant to update.

In the event of a major snowstorm or region-wide emergency, text messages will be received much faster than the automatic voice calling system or email.

The FCC requires individuals to register their devices individually to receive the text. You may enroll at any time as long as the District has the phone number in its database.

Using your cell phone text message app, type ‘yes’ and send it to “67587.” To opt out, text “stop” to the same number.

You can download detailed instructions. Text messaging rates apply.
