13 Receive District 28 Scholarships

Thirteen District 28 alumni who graduated last month from Glenbrook North High School were awarded the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship.


The winners will each receive a $1,000 scholarship toward second semester college tuition. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school students who are graduates of Northbrook Junior High. The scholarships were announced on May 29 to the following students:


Molly Alcorn, Benjamin Chalem, Ainsley Charlesworth, Evan Denenberg, Allanah Elster, Emma Garside, Janet Garside, Celia Giles, Faith Hincapie, Ethan Levy, Scott Phadnis, David Schueler, and Meghan Traynor.


The scholarship fund was established in 1989 and is supported through the District 28 PTO Council. Dr. Homer O. Harvey was a longtime the superintendent of District 28 and dedicated his career to providing high standards of excellence and learning. His family continues to be involved with the scholarship selection committee. The annual HOH5K is the top-fundraiser for the event and is held on the first Saturday in May. This year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic. An Amazon Smile account has been established to raise funds. Since 1989, the first year of the fund, $331,500 has been awarded to 367 Northbrook Junior High graduates.
